Campers of Orlyonok took part in the Clean Shores Action
Boys and girls of the 5th session took part in the Clean Shores International Action. This action is annually held by UNESCO Associated Schools in the frame of the Protection and Research of Environment and Natural Objects Project. The Action is also related to the Global Action Week, as well as to the “Preserve and Maintain” International Ecological Action.
More than 200 children from different regions of Russia participated in the Action.
“Russian children show their indifference towards Global problems while participating in the Clean Shores International Action. Cleaning shores of the Black Sea, they contribute to protection of marine lives and waters of the world's oceans and seas against pollution. Considerable attention is paid to programmes aimed at environmental preservation in Orlyonok. One of such programmes implemented in the Centre is devoted to environmental education and called “Your Footprint on Earth”. We also have separate municipal waste collection facilities in Orlyonok,” Alexander Dzheus, Director of the Russian Children’s Centre Orlyonok, commented.
The Action includes four participation stages: submission of the application, public work on coastal zone cleanup, video production as a report on the work undertaken, and posting video on the Centre’s website and at UNESCO Associated Schools Network.
Results of the Action will be shown 1 June 2019 at www.tisbi.ru.
“I want to make a better world that’s why I decided to take part in the Clean Shores Action. Such kinds of events draw public attention to the matter. I hope that people will start thinking about preservation of our environment and won’t throw trash outdoors,” Darya Kvachko from Kaliningrad Region said.
