Bridges of Friendship
An international camp session “Bridges of Friendship” is taking place in Russian Children’s Centre “Orlyonok” where more than 3 700 children from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Italy, Mongolia, China, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine and many others – 21 countries in all – have been participated. They are all stand for participants of various educational projects and programmes of the Centre, including winners and awardees of Russian Olympiads in culturology, linguistics, and history, who show interest in world cultures, and also representatives of other nations, who study the Russian language and culture.
The motto of the session is “We will build bridges instead of walls!” Campers learn about heritage, language, traditions, customs, and games of other participating countries and share cultural diversity of their homeland with others.
On the International Day of Friendship boys and girls presented their projects and campaigns on such topics as “Let’s Be Friends”, “We are Creating Miracles”, “A Peaceful Sky”, and “A Fair of Cultures”. Also, a ship of peace, which was produced jointly at the Orlyonok children’s shipyard, was floated out in the Black Sea.
“After I had taken a third place in the competition “Live Classics” in my city, I was invited to “Orlyonok”. Here I’ve made a lot of friends from Mongolia, Italy, South Ossetia, and China. I fancy our counsellors very much; they are kind-hearted, outgoing, and friendly. Time is slipping away so gaily and imperceptibly”, Victoria Hussein Safa, a participant of session “Bridges of Friendship”, offered her opinion (Lebanon, Tyre).
Many creative meetings and contests, workshops, intellectual games, and discussions are still ahead. A gala concert “The World is We!” will be the final event of the camp session, where campers will show their talents and creativity through songs, dances, poems, legends, and myths of different countries.
